Hi, my name is Beverly.  I am a stay at home mom of two bo ys. I am so lucky that I get to homeschool. JD is 10(top of picture), and JJ is 8(bottom of picture).  With my husband Jeremiah, we live in Stuttgart, Germany.   Today is our three year anniversary of living overseas.  I wanted to start this blog to be an  encouragement to homeschool families all over the world, and just share my failures and triumphs, and our adventure as we all explore together. Adventures in Stuttgart Part 1

We have been so busy that last couple weeks. My mom and cousin came for a 2 week visit. So we got to do some exploring in the Stuttgart area. We found some really fun places. So I will be sharing them the next couple weeks.  Me and my mom.  We started by exploring our downtown Stuttgart area. We went down there on the October 3rd. That is a German holiday "unity day". This day is a national holiday celebrating the reunification of East and West Germany after the cold war.  Landesmuseum Wüttemberg    We were just walking around and the happened across the Landesmuseum Wüttemberg. We were able to get into the museum for free. It had some interesting information about the history of the area around Stuttgart. There is a collection of artifacts, some from before the Roman times. Adventures in Stuttgart Part 3

Next we adventured out to Heidelberg Castle (in route to Frankfort). This is one of my favorite German Castles. It is about 2 hours from Stuttgart. The Castle has a rich history though out the ages. Construction started on it in the 1300's. It had been expanded and a center for the local area until it was destroyed  by the French Army in 1689, after the war with the French. In 1764 what was left of the castle caught fire when it was struck by lightning, leaving it in ruins. In the 1883 preservation and partial rebuilding efforts were begun. Today it is partially in ruins, some has been rebuilt. It is a wonderful place to visit. Heidelberg Castle A part of the castle that has been restored A part that is still burned out.
